LITTLE BOOK FOR HEART AND BLOOD VESSEL HEALTH

WHAT IS MY RISK FOR HEART ATTACK OR ANOTHER VASCULAR EVENT?

HOW DO I ACHIEVE GOAL?

Philip H. Frost, M.D.

WHY THIS LITTLE BOOK?

This Little Book is written to address an important problem. Atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) is the foundation for heart attack (myocardial infarction), stroke (cerebrovascular event) and diseases of the lower extremities and kidney circulation (together cardiovascular events).  Heart attack is the most common cause of death in the United States and stroke is the leading cause of disability.

Important to understand, is that these real problems can for the most part be prevented. The premise of this book is that a basic understanding of the lipid abnormalities present (the foundation for trouble), and the multiple treatment modalities available to correct such, will empower an individual to dramatically reduce the risk of suffering a heart attack or stroke (cardiovascular event).

This little book uses real examples to demonstrate what it takes to lead a likely cardiovascular event free life. Success requires establishing a sensible lifestyle, attention to blood pressure, and the topic of this little book - use of medications to normalize evident lipid (cholesterol) disorders.
